Legal
Terms of Service
Effective: October 1, 2026
1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Wiseinsur Technology Inc., 300-2 Simcoe Street South, Oshawa, ON L1H 8C1, Canada (“WiseInsur”, “we”, “us”). They cover the website at wiseinsur.ai and the WiseInsur apps for iOS and Android (together, the “platform”).
By creating an account or using the platform you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
2. What WiseInsur is, and is not
WiseInsur is a technology platform. It helps people in Canada understand their insurance needs, review the policies they have, and request quotes from licensed insurance agents and brokers (“advisors”).
WiseInsur is not an insurer, an insurance agent or a brokerage. In particular:
- We do not sell, underwrite, issue or renew insurance, and we do not collect premiums.
- We do not give insurance, financial, legal or tax advice. Estimates, reports and comparisons on the platform are general information, not a recommendation to buy or change any coverage.
- Any quote you receive comes from the advisor who sent it. The advisor, and the insurer they place coverage with, are responsible for that quote, for any advice they give, and for the policy.
- Buying, changing, paying for or claiming on a policy happens directly between you and the advisor or insurer, outside the platform.
The platform is offered in Canadian provinces and territories other than Quebec.
3. Your account
You must have reached the age of majority in your province or territory to use the platform.
Give accurate information when you register, keep your password to yourself, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account. We may ask you to confirm your email address before you can send requests, quotes or messages.
You can delete your account at any time: in the apps under Me, or on the website at wiseinsur.ai/account/delete.
4. If you are looking for coverage
Indicative estimates. An instant estimate is an indicative range based on the answers you give. It is not a quote, an offer of insurance or a price you can buy at.
Quote requests. When you send a request, you ask us to pass the details in it to the advisor you chose, or to the advisors on the platform who serve your coverage and province. Give details that are true and complete: an advisor prices on what you tell them, and a quote based on wrong information may not hold.
What advisors see. Until you accept a quote, advisors see what they need to price the request, but not your full name, email or phone number. When you accept a quote, we share your contact details with that advisor so they can arrange the policy with you. Our Privacy Policy describes this in full.
Your decision. You choose whether to accept any quote. We do not rank advisors by the commission they earn, and we do not take a commission on policies. Check an advisor’s licence and the policy wording before you buy.
5. If you are an advisor
Licence. You confirm that you hold, and will keep, every licence required to solicit and place the insurance you quote in each province where you quote it, and that the licence details you give us are accurate. We may check them against provincial registers, and we may withhold requests in a province until a licence there is verified. A “verified” mark means we matched a licence number to a register on the date shown; it is not an endorsement.
Your responsibility. You alone are responsible for your quotes, your advice, your disclosures and the policies you arrange, and for following the insurance, privacy and anti-spam laws that apply to you. You are not our employee, agent or partner.
Customer information. Use the information you receive through a request only to quote and serve that customer. Do not sell it, share it outside your firm, or add it to a marketing list. Keep it secure, and delete it when the customer asks and the law allows.
No cold outreach. Contact a customer through the platform only after they have sent you a request or accepted your quote. Do not ask customers for contact details before they accept your quote.
Fair dealing. Quotes, profiles, store listings, promotions and coupons must be accurate, current and not misleading. Do not offer an inducement that the law in the customer’s province prohibits.
6. Memberships and billing
Some features need a paid membership: Member for individuals and families, and Pro for advisors. A membership pays for the use of the platform. It is not an insurance premium, and it does not buy or guarantee any coverage, quote, client or result.
Price and renewal. The price, in Canadian dollars, and the billing period are shown before you subscribe. A membership renews automatically at the end of each period, at the price then in effect, until you cancel. If we change a price, we will tell you before your next renewal.
Where you pay. On the website, payment is handled by Stripe. In the iOS and Android apps, Member is sold through Apple or Google Play, and their terms apply to that purchase. Pro is not sold in the apps.
Cancelling. You can cancel at any time: on the website under Account, then Membership, or in your Apple or Google Play subscription settings for a purchase made in an app. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.
Refunds. Payments for a period that has started are not refunded, except where the law gives you a right to a refund. Refunds for purchases made in an app are handled by Apple or Google Play under their policies.
Advisors. Without an active Pro membership an advisor is not listed, does not receive requests, and cannot send quotes or reply to customers.
7. Acceptable use
Do not:
- use the platform for anything unlawful, fraudulent or misleading, or pretend to be someone else;
- send a request you do not intend, or use requests to collect advisors’ quotes for another business;
- harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone, or send spam;
- upload malware, or content you have no right to share;
- copy, scrape or resell the platform or its data, or probe or bypass its security;
- use information about another person that you received here for any purpose other than the request it came with.
You can report or block another person in the platform. We review reports and may remove content or suspend an account.
8. What you put on the platform
You keep ownership of the details, documents, messages, reviews and listings you provide. You give us permission to store, display and share them as needed to run the platform for you: for example, to show your request to advisors, or your public profile to customers. You confirm you have the right to provide them.
Ratings and reviews must reflect your own real experience.
The platform itself, including its software, design, text and the WiseInsur name and logo, belongs to us. These terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use it; they do not give you any other right in it.
9. Tools and reports
The needs analysis, policy checkup, estimates and calculators apply general rules to the answers and documents you give. They can be wrong or incomplete, they do not know everything about your situation, and they are not advice. Talk to a licensed advisor before you decide on coverage, and read the policy itself: the policy wording is what counts.
10. Other companies’ services
The platform relies on services run by others, including Stripe, Apple, Google and our email and notification providers. Their own terms apply to their services. Advisors and insurers are independent of us, and we are not a party to anything you agree with them.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and your choices. It forms part of these terms.
12. No warranties
We work to keep the platform accurate and available, but we provide it “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we make no promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, that any advisor will respond, that a quote will be available or will hold, or that an estimate or report is correct for your situation.
We check advisors’ licence details as described in section 5, but we do not supervise advisors and are not responsible for their conduct, quotes, advice or policies.
13. Limit of our liability
To the extent the law allows, WiseInsur is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, lost data, or loss arising from a quote, advice or policy provided by an advisor or insurer, or from a decision you make about coverage.
Our total liability to you for everything connected with the platform is limited to the greater of the membership fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, and CA$100.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or takes away rights you have under the consumer protection law of your province or territory.
14. Indemnity
If you are an advisor, you will cover our reasonable losses and costs from a claim made against us because of your quotes, advice, policies, listings or conduct, or because you broke these terms or the law.
15. Suspension and ending
We may suspend or close an account, remove content, or stop sending requests to an advisor if these terms or the law are broken, a licence cannot be verified or lapses, we receive credible reports of harm, or we need to protect other people or the platform. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you why.
You may stop using the platform and delete your account at any time. Sections 8, 12, 13, 14 and 17 continue after an account is closed.
16. Changes
We may change the platform and these terms. If a change to these terms matters to you, we will tell you by email or in the platform before it takes effect. Using the platform after that date means you accept the change; if you do not, you can cancel and close your account.
17. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Disputes go to the courts of Ontario, unless the consumer protection law of the province or territory where you live gives you the right to bring a claim there.
If part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term at once, we may still enforce it later.
18. Contact
Questions about these terms? Email wiseinsur@wiseinsur.ca, or use the contact page.
If you have a complaint about an advisor’s advice or conduct, you can also contact the insurance regulator in your province.
